Andrea Renaud’s background in textile art and weaving assumed an uncharted path during the quarantine lockdown; she has found her hands over cut paper and gouache paint. Longtime fascinated by scissor-touched gentleness of Matisse’s cutouts and Dorothy Iannone’s lush paintings of female sexuality, Renaud began creating cutout collages of cerebral and physical icons she is absorbed by in her personal and professional life. In her mysterious visual lexicon, a myriad territory of meditative excursions permeates into the mundane, which is, in her experience, influenced by senses overshadowing the logic. Lucid dreams where a winding serpent, bleeding heart or blazing sun fluidly roam are seeped through Renaud’s contemplations on the languish of the human condition. Her sensuous cutouts attempt to grasp the poetic duello between the immaterial and corporal.

Renaud lives in New York City and is interested in creative and commercial collaborations.
